Seed and Growth

The seed of yoga culture was sown by Swami Satyananda in 1956 during his parivrajak days. He frequently visited Bhilai and inspired to open and develop a yoga culture and thus Gyan Darshan Yogashram came into shape in 1977 as Yoga Niketan. A couple of All India Yoga Conventions were organized in 1977 & 1981, in the presence of Swami Satyananda.

In due course of time Gyan Darshan Yogashram was founded in 1986 with the blessings of Swami Satyananda and Swami Niranjanananda. It became a prominent source of yoga culture based on Bihar Yoga teachings under the leadership of Swami Devshankarananda Saraswati, appointed as Acharya of the institute by Swami Satyananda.

The Seed

Thousands of yoga aspirants were imparted with various types of yoga practices e.g. Asana, Pranayama, Meditation like Ajapajap, Antarmaun, Chidakash and Yoga Nidra which was evolved by Swami Satyananda from the yoga scriptures as a practical practice in modern age. In addition, a lot of spiritual practices were also performed. And thus, with his untiring efforts and zeal, Gyan Darshan Yogashram got immense recognition as a premier and authentic yoga institute in and around Bhilai.

Growth Of Yogashram

In 2001, Sannyasi Sheelvratananda was appointed Acharya of Gyan Darshan Yogashram. And there on, Ashram has witnessed a constant and smooth rise in popularity & growth. His continuous efforts with total dedication, have gradually converted Gyan Darshan Yogashram into a place with pure & peaceful environment. With total discipline applied there, one experiences mental calmness and emotional stability.

In Gyan Darshan Yogashram, Bhilai, every aspirant of yoga is provided with immense opportunities to inculcate the Yogic lifestyle.
