Seva (Social Services)

As a part of "SEVA" providing tricycle to disabled person, bicycle to needy poor, sewing machine to needy and around 80-100 persons are permitted to attend the yoga classes without spending money on any account, for whole year (students, senior citizens, suffering from chronic diseases, uneducated class of persons, with poor financial background and so on)

Shri Sw. Satyananda has inspired all aspirants to adapt “Seva” as an essential part of lifestyle. He says that it is the most appropriate way to server humanity and also to purify ourselves.

Yogashram activities include “Seva” as an important feature

For those who possess minimum of facilities, money, assets, insufficient food, full of ignorance and lack of proper guidance –

1. Standard 5 students form government primary school are selected and given coaching for entrance exams of Navodaya Vidyalaya run by central government. Once entered in standard 6 in Navodaya Vidyalaya, they are provided free lodging, boarding and all books and study expenditure are born by the Government. The coaching classes are run daily from August to January or March as per exam schedule. So far, five children have been selected and joined Navodaya Vidyalaya during the past three years.

2. They are provided school bags, study material, dresses and other articles of daily use on Navratri day and/or Bal Yoga Divas i.e. 14 February.

3. Sports kit for young upcoming cricketers.

4. At times they are being educated by doctors and other to take care of their hygiene. This is being done at school.
   

Karma Seva – is an essential part of routine being adapted by all to keep the hall, verandas, garden and outer parts of premises clean.

Special assignment with Bhilai Steel Plant (BSP) hospital

1. Operating a Yoga consultation center at BSP main hospital on regular basis throughout the year on fixed weekdays to give guidelines to the persons with specific ailments. If they prefer to join yoga classes at ashram, they need not pay any fees.

2. Joined as a part of team of doctors and specialist to guide the pregnant ladies at BSP hospital. One-week yoga class is also organized to the willing ladies.
